About Happy

HAPPY MADDEN COUNSELING

Happy Madden specializes in therapy for adolescents and young adult women in Dallas, Texas.

Happy is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with a passion for helping clients feel known and understood in order to better understand their own stories. She completed her Master of Science in Counseling at Southern Methodist University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Spanish from Washington and Lee University. Happy offers individual counseling for adolescents and young adults ranging from ages 10-30.

Happy opened Happy Madden Counseling after working for five years in a group practice, Nikao Counseling. She also worked at Children’s Health as a mental health coordinator in the Emergency Department, where she helped children in crisis and their families navigate the mental health system. While completing her graduate studies at SMU, Happy worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center in the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care, where she recruited participants for longitudinal studies of depression and resilience. Before that, she served on the advocacy and public policy team of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Washington, D.C.

Happy completed her counseling internship hours at Carrollton Springs Changes Frisco and Children’s Health Day Treatment. It was in these partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings that she developed a passion for working with adolescents, specifically in suicide prevention. She finds it an immense privilege to come alongside clients as they work to find purpose and hope in the midst of suffering.

Happy and her husband serve in leadership roles in their local church. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, coffee with friends, and spending time with her daughter and yellow lab.
